The essentials
To buy your car on the spot we need to be sure of two things: that the car is yours to sell, and that we're paying the right person. That comes down to a short list:
- V5C logbook - the registration certificate in your name. If you've recently moved, the address should match your ID or be supported by a utility bill.
- Photo ID - a driving licence or passport.
- All sets of keys - including spares, the locking wheel nut, and any security or radio codes.
- Your bank details - so we can send your payment by bank transfer before you leave.
Strongly worth bringing
- Service history - a full or partial history supports a stronger price. Digital service records count; just know which garage holds them.
- MOT certificates - we can look MOT status up online, but old certificates help evidence mileage.
- Receipts for recent work - new tyres, brakes or a recent cambelt change are all worth showing us.
If the car is on finance
Bring a settlement letter from your finance company - it states the exact amount needed to clear the agreement and is usually valid for around 10 days. We settle that balance directly with the lender and pay the remainder to you. See our guide on selling a car on finance for the full picture.
What if I've lost the V5C?
You can order a replacement from the DVLA before your visit - it typically arrives within a week. We can still value the car in the meantime, but we can't complete the purchase without proof you're the registered keeper.
